About this referral service

Kalkallo Concreting is a referral website run by Yes Right Pty Ltd. How an enquiry is passed on, what the concreter is responsible for and how to check them.

Kalkallo Concreting takes enquiries for driveways, paths, slabs and council crossovers in Kalkallo and the growth suburbs around it, then refers them on. The site belongs to Yes Right Pty Ltd (ABN 91 664 546 061). Its job is to get the slab size, finish and access details in front of an independent local concreter, who then decides whether to quote.

Yes Right Pty Ltd is not a concreting contractor or a building company. It does not employ concreters, does not hold a business premises in Kalkallo, and does not claim any reviews, past projects or workmanship of its own. The photos show the kinds of slabs and finishes discussed on each page. None of them is a driveway or path poured for someone who enquired here.

Where your concreting enquiry goes

The quote form asks for your suburb, how to reach you and what you want poured: the rough square metres, the finish, and whether the crossover is part of it. Those details may be passed to one or more independent concreters who work in your area so they can respond. Most will want to see the frontage, the fall of the block and the side access, so expect a request for photos or a measure-up on site. A concreter can turn the job down, and this site gives no promise about how fast anyone replies or when a pour could start.

If a provider quotes and you accept, the contract is between you and that business. The scope, price, payment terms, timing, materials, council applications and warranty are all matters for you and the provider to agree, ideally in writing.

The concreter’s side of the job

Once you engage a concreter, these sit with them:

  • assessing the site, including base, levels, drainage and access
  • the quote and everything it includes or excludes
  • any council consent for a crossover, or confirming in writing that you will apply
  • booking council inspections where they apply
  • how well the slab is finished and cured, and whatever workmanship warranty they put in writing
  • public liability cover, a safe site and meeting the law while they work.

This site’s guides, such as the pages on concrete driveways and vehicle crossings, explain what good practice looks like so you can ask useful questions. They are general information drawn from published sources, not advice about your particular site.

How to check a concreter before you sign

A stand-alone driveway, path or paving contract does not legally require a registered building practitioner in Victoria, according to the Building and Plumbing Commission’s landscaping guidance. That makes your own checks more important. Practical steps:

  1. Look up the business on the ABN register at ABN Lookup and check the name on the quote matches.
  2. Check registration where it applies. If the job also includes domestic building work such as a retaining wall, verandah or attached deck, and the contract price is over the threshold the BPC sets, the business must be a registered building practitioner. The BPC lists relevant classes such as Domestic Builder (Limited to the construction of structural landscaping). Search the BPC’s Find a practitioner register for the name or registration number.
  3. Ask for a certificate of currency for public liability insurance. Hume and Whittlesea both ask about the contractor’s public liability cover as part of crossover approval, so a concreter doing road reserve work should have it ready.
  4. See recent work in the finish you want, preferably jobs a few years old.
  5. Get the scope in writing: area, thickness, base, mesh, finish, sealer, joints and what happens with old concrete.

The Kalkallo cost guide lists what a complete quote should cover and some warning signs.

Areas covered by the enquiry form

The form takes jobs in Kalkallo, Mickleham, Donnybrook, Beveridge and Craigieburn, across Hume, Whittlesea and Mitchell Shire. Each concreter sets their own travel range, so one may cover your estate and another may not.

Things this site cannot help with

Do not use the form for urgent safety problems, such as a collapsed slab over a service trench or a damaged footpath that is a trip hazard in the road reserve; contact your council about public land. Plumbing and drainage connections are plumbing work and need a licensed plumber. Structural slabs for a house, garage or extension are designed as part of a building permit and fall outside what this site covers.
